Middle School Volleyball: October 14

Wow, what a week we've had! Our girls played three games at home this week to finish out the regular season.

Our Monday game was against Imagine Charter School, we won the first two sets, 25-12, 25-8.

On Thursday we played St. Anastasia, taking best two out of three with scores of 19-25, 25-11, and 15-7.

Our final game was against Community Christian Academy, another win for Morningside with 25-12, 25-22.

All the games were great competitions, our girls played their best and worked together to come from behind in some matches. They ended the regular season with a record of 10-4! Now on to District Semifinals next week!

Everyone at Morningside is proud of our middle school team and look forward to wins at Districts!

Fall Senior Day 2011

Today we honored our Senior student-athletes and their families for all their years of dedication to our Athletic Department. For golf, we honored Steven Barger and Vincent Boland. Vincent was unable to attend the ceremony, but his accomplishments and achievements were announced to everyone. Steven and his mother were honored for his years on our golf team, both athletically and spiritually.

Next we honored our Varsity Volleyball captain, Lindsey Evans. Lindsey and her parents were congratulated for their devotion not only to our athletics, but to the spiritual growth they provided to many students at Morningside. Coach Montero spoke highly of Lindsey's years at Morningside.

We did have a slight mishap in our schedule, the middle school game scheduled for 4:00 was cancelled due to a communication glitch, so we held an impromtu volleyball game with both teams, as well as students and staff! Quite a few students were overheard saying how much they enjoyed themselves in this relaxed match!

In fact, our middle school coach, Devin Terris, showed us his serving ability during the game:

Even our principal, Mr. Petree, decided to join the team!

And a great time was had by all!
